Hawaii, a dream come true

Aloha! Hawaii has been on our wish list for a very long time, because it has everything one can dream for a perfect vacation: postcard beaches, active volcanoes, endless possibilities for outdoor activities… all excellent reasons to go visit… After long thought (and a significant amount of saving for vacations) we finally decided we had to go. Dreams do come true…

Amalfi Coast – La Bella Italia!!

Having the opportunity to spend some days in Italy is always a reason to feel happy: gorgeous landscapes, unmatched historical heritage, excellent food and even better wine (mamma mia!), good weather, nice people who will easily engage in pleasant conversations with the visitors… nothing is missing for a wonderful stay!

But there is one dilemma: choosing what region to visit… this time we chose the Amalfi Coast: easily accessible from Rome, known for its great natural beauty and classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, it is definitely a good destination. Spending some days here (based at Sorrento or nearby) will allow you to explore the entire area, where there are many points of interest to ensure an amazing vacation.

Belém, a must visit during a stay in Lisbon

We realized some time ago that we didn’t have many photos of our beautiful city of Lisbon, a huge flaw that demanded immediate action… So we started a family program: to enjoy spring good weather and spend some afternoons in “photo tours” , to show you the places you can’t miss on your next visit here.

We took a vote (this is a very democratic family), and we decided that the first of these tours would be in Belém, a really lovely place, with a very special light and brightness complemented with the deep blue color of the Tagus River, equally visited by tourist and locals, who love to spend time here.

Tanzania, in the heart of Africa, and ours…

I once read a sentence about this fascinating destination which I never forgot, and which kept coming to my mind during our entire stay: this is the place where you can feel the earth’s pulse, for this is where its heart beats. This thought occurs to me every time I think about Tanzania. As we move away from inhabited areas into the wilderness, we feel as if we are going back to the origin of times. Endless fields, covered with low vegetation, threes, rivers, lakes and animals, a huge number of animals, in complete freedom. It is an incredible sight, as if time didn’t pass here.

Last stop, San Francisco: artistic, multicultural and alternative…

After all our adventures, we arrived to San Francisco in a very relaxed mood, to enjoy our last vacation days. The first impression was that of a very interesting city, with its hills, its cable cars, its Victorian houses and of course the Golden Gate. It reminded us of Lisbon, these are cities with much in common.

Yosemite, pure and grandiose nature

One of the most extraordinary aspects of American Far West is its huge diversity: this is the only place where you can leave the desert at lunch time with countless alerts related to extreme heat dangers, and be in the mountains after a 3 hours drive, where alerts are about the dangers associated to the bears! In few hours everything changes, the climate, the people, the landscape… We feel as if we left one world to step into a new one, completely different, and at the same time equally beautiful and inspiring.

Death Valley, an extraordinary and hot, very hot place!

As the time to leave towards Death Valley National Park arrived, our anxiety increased. Every time we checked the weather forecast, highs were getting higher… we knew it would be hot, but when predictions got at 129, 131, 133ºF (54, 55, 56ºC)… we started to worry! News were all about historical highs, and the 1913 record of 134ºF (56,7ºC) was expected to be exceeded.
